LAYING DOWN ARMS: A PEACEFUL TRANSITION IN COLOMBIA
Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 7pm
Join us for an evening of photojournalism and discussion with Zach Krahmer, a local award-winning photojournalist who documented Colombian FARC guerrilla fighters transitioning to peace after the end of their 52-year-long civil war.
Currently living in UN Transition zones, the former FARC guerrillas are undergoing a process of disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration. Come hear their life stories and see their large-scale portraits (made with a 19th-century wet-plate photographic process).
This will be the debut of Zach’s collection of portraits, which will be available to view during posted hours until May 19.
Zach Krahmer is an award-winning photojournalist from Portland. He contributes storytelling work for a variety of organizations and news outlets and has worked in more than 40 countries. His work relates to environmental conflicts and community healing and seeks to enable empathy.
