The Meriwethers deliver an all ages multimedia presentation of music and story inspired by Lewis and Clark with the Corps of Discovery's epic journey from St. Louis, MO to the Pacific Ocean and back: featuring original songs, video, and stories from the 1804 - 1806 journey of Lewis & Clark. The Meriwethers invite you to celebrate this adventurous piece of history, and to experience the emotional perspective of the real men and women who blazed a trail across our young country after the Louisiana Purchase. Find out about the animals they met along the way, and how one lucky prairie dog became the US Presidents' Guest of Honor !
"...they were engaged, they were learning, there were interacting -- and just had a blast!"
- Kim Smith (3rd Grade Teacher )
" It was historical...but the voices and the presentation and the music was very modern and very upbeat...a wonderful reinforcement of the things we'd studied -- and also some additional stories that we didn't know!...the students were mesmerized!"
- Sue Pindell (4th & 5th Grade Teacher)
The Meriwethers play indie folk and Americana music with singer / songwriter Manda Bryn, acoustic guitarist Ezra Severin, harmony vocals / guitar and reedbox by Nell Geisslinger and percussion, vocals and guitar by Mysha Caruso . Other instruments in the mix are banjo, harmonica and bowed bells.
The Meriwethers songs are a musical interpretation of the Lewis & Clark expedition. Songs vary from love and adventure to humorous. Between songs the band briefly takes the audience to the point in the Lewis & Clark journey that inspired the songs. The band often switches vocalists and instruments. The Meriwethers provide a mellow, fun, acoustic and intimate show great for children and adults alike. The band incorporates their custom created video backdrops.
