Labyrinths and other large-scale walking patterns have a held a captivating place in human history for many thousands of years. Here at Cerimon House, we see the labyrinth as a signature image for our work in the community, especially during these particular historic times of change in the world.
Each month the artistic focus of our walks adapt, and the theme for reflection in March 2017 is "The Earth's Ecology". How can we, as occupants of this beautiful planet, actively keep it healthy and whole? Are we capable of helping to reverse the effects of climate change? What are the ways in which we can re-establish the balance of science and nature, and once again become true stewards of our planet?
Our pattern is an adaptation of the lesser-known Reims, France design which features five arrival points on the journey. This fascinating path is at once a personal map, and a large-scale compass - and our attendees enjoy walking the pattern to unplug, restore, and recalibrate. After your walk on the labyrinth at Cerimon House we invite you to stay with us, sip some tea, and continue your meditation or journaling.
You can't get lost on a labyrinth - unlike mazes which are designed to "amaze or confuse" - for there is always a way forward and an arrival point at the center: a place of integration and calm. Read more about our labyrinth project here.
Drop-ins are indeed welcomed (between 1:00pm - 4:30pm), although priority is given to those who have scheduled appointments. This is an all-inclusive and non-religious activity recommended for ages 10 and up. All proceeds benefit Cerimon House's community programming. Thank you for you support.
