Gut Instinct - Keynote Address

  • Cerimon House 5131 NE 23rd Avenue Portland, OR, 97211 United States (map)

Keynote Address by
Embriette Hyde, PhD

Dr. Hyde is the Program Manager of The American Gut Project and Project Scientist for Knight Lab at the University of California San Diego

Thanks to everyone who joined our keynote speaker Dr. Embriette Hyde for her compelling presentation
"Redefining Human: Living and Eating in a Microbiome World".

Her vivid discussion of the human microbiome separated "the hope from the hype" surrounding the scientific world's biggest research initiative today: understanding the importance of healthy bacterial ecosystems that impact everyday life.  From where you live to what you eat, from who you mate with and whether you have a dog - all of these factors affect your bacteria and your health, most especially your gut health.  Whether you're a health provider or patient tending to digestive issues and inflammation, or if you just want to preserve the good health you have, Dr. Hyde brings the alien world of human bacteria into a realm that's both freaky and fun.

The three day conference Gut Instinct was Cerimon House's first user conference on matters of science and health, and assembled a large swath of scientists, doctors, nutritionists, practitioners and the public, for a discussion of the human body's journey, and what's along for the ride.
