Amanda Soden

Amanda Soden serves on the Cerimon House Board [2012-2013], and works as a Paralegal and Bookkeeper for the law firm of Shenker & Bonaparte, LLP.  Ms. Soden was born in Nairobi, Kenya and spent most of her childhood living in eastern and southern Africa and the Indian subcontinent.  Her family has a long history of overseas aid service including building roads in Maseru, Lesotho, providing aid to Afghan refugees in Peshawar, Pakistan and assisting with HIV/AIDS testing and education in Gaborone, Botswana.  Ms. Soden graduated Summa Cum Laude from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois with degrees in Theatre and Philosophy.

She most recently appeared in our Spring presentation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion at Ainsworth House (playing both Elizabeth and Mary Elliot) and in our August salon Rising Tide Beach PartyAmanda’s work as a professional actor has been seen on local Portland stages in Snow Falling on Cedars and Misalliance at Portland Center Stage, Uncommon Women & Others at Profile Theatre, and Statements After an Arrest Under the Immorality Act at Shaking The Tree.  Ms. Soden is a fierce advocate for the welfare and rights of animals, volunteering at Dove Lewis and the Oregon Humane Society, and is an avid soccer player.

The members of our Board of Directors are citizens and artisans who, working collaboratively with Founder & Director Randall Stuart, help to create Cerimon House: a Sanctuary for the Humanities within our community. Located in Portland, Oregon – and a 501c3 non profit public benefit organization – the annual programming, ceremonies and symposia are focused on the mission of exalting the Humanities. Additionally, our Creative and Resource Councils are populated with community leaders, teachers, designers, business leaders, citizen activists, authors, philosophers, clergy, lawyers, architects, woodworkers, movement specialists, healers, puppeteers, poets, social workers and more.
